Position Title:   Accounting Clerk

Position Summary:  Provides general office support with a variety of clerical activities and related tasks.  The accounting clerk will be responsible for all accounts receivable duties, dispersing calls/messages to appropriate associates, receiving payments from customers for good and services as well as recording the amount received accurately, cash and check deposits, posting payments, inventory management, factory payables, schedule maintenance, contract management, scanning, and other misc duties assigned. This role will be main point of contact of the accounting office for our customers via cashier window. The role will need to be able to provide excellent customer service. 

Must have strong Accounting background. Dealership experience is preferred.  Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word and Excel.  Must be attentive to detail and manage time efficiently. 

The hours for this position Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. 

Pay will be depending on experience with a starting point of $18.00/hr+.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Answer incoming calls and direct the caller to the appropriate person. 
  • Communicate with callers in a professional, courteous and efficient manner, minimizing the time a caller is put on hold. Inform caller if there is no answer, suggest leaving a message.
  • Take detailed messages, including full name, time of call, reason for call and call back number. Communicate messages to the appropriate party in a timely manner. 
  • Receive and issue receipts for cash, check and credit card payments, following the procedure set out for accepting payment (e.g., checks verified, etc.)
  • Record amounts received in the computer and secure monies in the register/drawer.
  • Make change and issue receipts to customers.
  • Review and record totals as shown on the receipt tape and verifies against cash on hand.
  • Daily cash and check deposits.
  • Processing Accounts Receivable, schedule maintenance, contract management, scanning, lien entries.
  • Schedule maintenance including keeping all required schedules clean and any problems noted and communicated with Office Manager.
  • Contract management and car deal sorting.
  • Assist with other related clerical duties such as photocopying, faxing, filing, and other duties as assigned. 
  • Attend any meetings as requested.

Education & Experience:

Strong accounting background.  Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications.  High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Dealership experience is preferred.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence if needed.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, employees and the general public.

Other Skills & Abilities: 

Skill and ability to operate a computer, Microsoft Excel, Word, Excel and other Microsoft Applications etc., organize and prioritize work, meet deadlines, operate office equipment and use company software. 

Reasoning Ability: 

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel and use a computer.  The employee frequently is required to talk, hear and reach with hands and arms.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Work Environment:
